Star Trek

Reinterpreting the dream of anyone who loves to read, the Star Trek armchair and Star Trek pouf were designed by Roberto Lazzeroni in 1994 during his summer holiday in Lampedusa. The story of these pieces actually starts with Franco Albini's "Tre Pezzi" armchair and reflects a play of cross-references. Indeed, Star Trek represents a coming together of Italian and Scandinavian design. Its name was coined by an associate of Lazzeroni's studio and reflects the humour of the designer, who wanted to reinvent Albini's design. Lazzeroni "plays" with dimensions, giving the chair's headrest and unlikely armrests exaggerated proportions. Effervescent playfulness and irreverent irony are evident here, as Roberto Lazzeroni said himself. The original design started with the side of the chair, which is Star Trek's key feature, while the headrest completes the piece. Technology is never an end unto itself in pieces by Ceccotti Collezioni, but is concealed in favour of clean lines and forms. Here, for example, the mechanism that attaches the headrest is hidden by a joint between the wood and the brass and becomes decorative. To enhance this piece even more, it is also available with a wood shellac finish, which gives it a bright, glossy appearance.
