Niwa

Noé Duchaufour-Lawrance designed this coffee table in 2011. The designer took his inspiration from Tsuboniwa gardens, the focal point of traditional Oriental houses In fact, “Niwa” means “garden” in Japanese. A tsuboniwa is a little patio which reinterprets the surrounding landscape in the heart of the home. It houses all essential elements, like stone, water and plants. The Niwa coffee table replicates this concept. The black nickel finished steel frame houses an organic solid American walnut shape. A contrast between organic and fluid, accentuated by this kind of wooden stone which seems to have been smoothed by time and the surrounding nature. The top surface is in ultra-transparent 15 mm tempered glass. The coffee table is available in two sizes but maintains its rectangular shape. With its strong identity, Niwa is a symbolic invitation to relax the confines between man and nature.
