Story

Milestones

1978

Gianni Versace founds the fashion house

Gianni Versace, born 1946 in Reggio Calabria, opens his first boutique on Via della Spiga in Milan and presents his debut collection at La Permanente in March. The original company, registered as Gianni Versace Donna, will grow into the global luxury house headquartered today at Piazza Luigi Einaudi 4, Milan.

1982

Move into housewares

Versace expands beyond fashion into jewellery, china and textiles for the home — the first foothold of what will later be formalised as Versace Home.

1988

The Greca (Greek Key) motif debuts

Gianni Versace introduces the Greek Key in the Fall-Winter 1988 ready-to-wear collection. Decades later, La Greca returns as a defining pattern across Versace Home upholstery and bed linen.

1989

Atelier Versace haute couture

The Atelier Versace haute couture line is launched, presented for the first time in Paris.

1992

Versace Home interiors launch

Versace becomes one of the first fashion houses to launch a dedicated home-interiors line — beginning with textiles and quickly expanding to porcelain tableware through a partnership with the German manufacturer Rosenthal that is still running today.

1994

Vanitas chair

The wooden Vanitas chair, the earliest dated piece in the Versace Home furniture canon, debuts. It will be re-upholstered in velvet and re-presented at Salone del Mobile 2025.

1997

Gianni Versace assassinated; Donatella becomes Creative Director

Gianni Versace is murdered outside his Miami Beach home, Casa Casuarina, on 15 July 1997. His sister Donatella Versace, who had been Vice President since 1978, becomes Creative Director — a role she will hold until 2025.

2014

Blackstone takes a minority stake

Blackstone purchases a 20% stake in Versace for €210 million — the brand's first non-family ownership.

2019

Capri Holdings acquires Versace

On 2 January 2019, Capri Holdings (the former Michael Kors group) closes its acquisition of Versace for approximately US$2.1 billion.

2020

Versace Home furniture licensed to Lifestyle Design Group

Versace signs a licence with Lifestyle Design Group — the Italian home-design division of US-based Haworth Group — for the production and distribution of Versace Home furniture. The licence covers furniture only; textiles and accessories remain in-house, ceramics continue under Rosenthal, and wallpaper and floor tiles stay with their respective licensees.

2023

Rosenthal × Versace turns 30

The Rosenthal × Versace partnership marks 30 years with a limited mug collection that revives a 1993 design — gold-toned Barocco motifs paired with a Medusa lid.

2024

"If These Walls Could Talk" at Palazzo Versace

Salone del Mobile installation at the brand's original Milan atelier on Via Gesù 12 debuts the Medusa '95 Conversation Sofa, La Greca Bed, Lady Desk, and Moon Island sofa and armchair.

2025

Prada Group acquires Versace

Announced 10 April 2025 and closed 2 December 2025: Prada Group acquires Versace from Capri Holdings for €1.25 billion (~US$1.375 billion). The same year Donatella Versace steps down as Chief Creative Officer (effective 12 March) and becomes Chief Brand Ambassador (1 April); Dario Vitale is appointed Chief Creative Officer.

Inside

Construction

Aluminium frame with etched logo

Frame in aluminium, etched with the Medusa-style House logo. The brand's framing: "The Goddess table lamp by Versace Home boasts sensual, curved lines that imbue rooms with sinuous reflections. The logo-embellished frame is equipped with LED lights, touch control, and a rechargeable battery powered lamp, with a USB-C cable included in the packaging." Etching is permanent — engraved into the metal rather than printed or applied — so the logo survives cleaning and time. Aluminium is light enough for a portable rechargeable lamp.

Frame finishes — polished Gold or polished Chrome

Two published frame finishes: polished Gold (warm-tone luxury — pairs with gold-accented Versace Home interiors) or polished Chrome (cool contemporary — pairs with chrome bathroom fixtures, modern minimalist interiors). The etched logo is visible on both finishes; only the metal colour changes. The polished register (high shine) reads as the bright reflective accent — different from a matte register.

Total white opaline glass shade

Shade in total white opaline glass — the diffuse-glow material that softens the LED light source and produces ambient illumination rather than direct task light. Opaline is white throughout (not clear glass with white frosting); the diffusion is uniform across the entire shade surface. Different from a clear or coloured glass shade: opaline gives even ambient light without hot-spots or coloured tints. The shade is the lamp's primary visual register when off; when on, the shade glows uniformly white.

Rechargeable battery + LED — touch control + USB-C charging

Rechargeable battery powers the LED light source — the lamp is portable, not tethered to a wall socket. Touch control on the frame turns the lamp on/off and (typically) cycles brightness levels. USB-C cable included for charging. Different from a corded mains-powered lamp: the rechargeable construction lets the lamp sit on tables, console, or bedside without cord management — practical for repositioning, dining table use (no trailing cable), or outdoor terrace use under shelter.

Two sizes — Ø 20 × 26 H or Ø 16 × 28 H

Two published sizes. Ø 20 × 26 H is wider but shorter (squatter proportions — reads as bedside or side-table lamp register). Ø 16 × 28 H is narrower but taller (taller proportions — reads as console or accent-piece register). Both share the same construction (aluminium frame + opaline shade + rechargeable battery + LED + USB-C). Choose by placement: the wider/shorter for bedside or wide-surface use; the taller for narrow consoles or where vertical proportion matters.

Etched Medusa-style logo on polished metal frame

Etched Medusa-style logo on polished metal frame

Detail of the family signature with the lamp on — the etched Medusa-style logo on the polished metal frame, with the opaline shade glowing from within. The etching is permanent (engraved into the metal); the polished finishing reflects the ambient room light against the lit shade. Pair with the Goddess set of lamps and suspension (id 424) and Goddess marble lamps (id 425) for a coordinated Goddess family lighting scheme — the LED variant gives portability the corded variants don't.

Lamp off — opaline shade visible

Lamp off — opaline shade visible

Ø 20 × 26 H or Ø 16 × 28 H cm

Daylight reference — lamp off — shows the opaline shade as a soft white form on the polished metal base. The etched logo is visible on the base. Use as the daytime aesthetic: the lamp reads as a sculptural object on the table even when not lit. Choose the size that fits the surface — Ø 20 × 26 H for typical bedside or side-table register, Ø 16 × 28 H for narrow consoles or accent placements.

Lamp on — installed register

Lamp on — installed register

Same as off

Lamp on — shows the actual lit register the lamp will create. The opaline shade glows uniformly white; the polished metal base reflects the room's ambient light. Suitable as bedside reading lamp, console accent light, dining table mood lamp (rechargeable means no cord), or outdoor terrace under shelter. Touch control on the frame turns the lamp on/off; brightness levels cycle through the same touch sensor (typical for this register).

Two-size comparison

Two-size comparison

Ø 16 × 28 H + Ø 20 × 26 H

Two-size comparison packshot. The taller Ø 16 × 28 H sits beside the squatter Ø 20 × 26 H — proportions reverse: the smaller-diameter version is taller, the larger-diameter version is shorter. Both proportions work; choose by placement context. For pairs (bedside lamps flanking a bed), specify the same size for symmetry; for mixed accent placement (lamp on console + lamp on bedside), specify different sizes for tonal variation.

FAQ

Frequently asked

Power source and portability. Goddess set of lamps and suspension (id 424) is corded — table lamp + 3 floor heights + 2 suspensions, all powered from mains. Goddess LED table lamp (this product) is rechargeable battery — portable, USB-C charged. Use the rechargeable variant where a cord would be impractical (dining table, bedside without nearby socket, repositioning across a room), or where the lamp will be moved frequently. The corded variants give continuous-use without recharging; the LED variant gives placement flexibility.

Choose by surface and intended placement. Ø 20 × 26 H is wider but shorter — stable on bedside tables or wide consoles; the squatter proportions read as a comfortable companion to a stack of books or magazines. Ø 16 × 28 H is narrower but taller — fits on slim consoles, narrow side tables, or as a stacked-with-other-objects accent; the taller proportions add vertical interest. For paired bedside lamps (matched on each side of a bed), specify the same size. For mixed accent placement, mix sizes for visual tonal variation.

Match the room's broader hardware register. Polished Gold reads warm-tone luxury — pairs with gold-trimmed Versace Home pieces (V-King bed's gold Barocco V Metal, gold-finish La Medusa Round Metal armchair, polished Gold Stiletto family hardware) and warm-tone interiors. Polished Chrome reads cool contemporary — pairs with chrome bathroom fixtures, modern interiors, mixed-metal palettes that lean cool. The etched logo and the opaline shade are identical in both finishes; only the metal colour changes.

The licensed manufacturer doesn't publish runtime, battery capacity, or recharge time on the public product page. Comparable rechargeable LED table lamps in this category typically run 6–10 hours per charge depending on brightness setting, with full recharge taking 4–6 hours via USB-C. For specific runtime confirmation before specifying for high-use applications (restaurant table, hospitality), contact your Solomia Home account — LLG may publish performance specs through the trade login that aren't on the public page.

The licensed manufacturer publishes "touch control" without specifying brightness levels or dimming range. Rechargeable LED lamps in this category typically include 3–4 brightness levels accessed by tapping the touch sensor multiple times (single tap on/off, hold or repeated tap to cycle brightness). For specific dimming behaviour confirmation, consult the spec sheet via your Solomia Home account; for venues requiring continuous dimming or specific lumen output, the corded Goddess variants (id 424) may offer more control.
