Story

Milestones

1978

Gianni Versace founds the fashion house

Gianni Versace, born 1946 in Reggio Calabria, opens his first boutique on Via della Spiga in Milan and presents his debut collection at La Permanente in March. The original company, registered as Gianni Versace Donna, will grow into the global luxury house headquartered today at Piazza Luigi Einaudi 4, Milan.

1982

Move into housewares

Versace expands beyond fashion into jewellery, china and textiles for the home — the first foothold of what will later be formalised as Versace Home.

1988

The Greca (Greek Key) motif debuts

Gianni Versace introduces the Greek Key in the Fall-Winter 1988 ready-to-wear collection. Decades later, La Greca returns as a defining pattern across Versace Home upholstery and bed linen.

1989

Atelier Versace haute couture

The Atelier Versace haute couture line is launched, presented for the first time in Paris.

1992

Versace Home interiors launch

Versace becomes one of the first fashion houses to launch a dedicated home-interiors line — beginning with textiles and quickly expanding to porcelain tableware through a partnership with the German manufacturer Rosenthal that is still running today.

1994

Vanitas chair

The wooden Vanitas chair, the earliest dated piece in the Versace Home furniture canon, debuts. It will be re-upholstered in velvet and re-presented at Salone del Mobile 2025.

1997

Gianni Versace assassinated; Donatella becomes Creative Director

Gianni Versace is murdered outside his Miami Beach home, Casa Casuarina, on 15 July 1997. His sister Donatella Versace, who had been Vice President since 1978, becomes Creative Director — a role she will hold until 2025.

2014

Blackstone takes a minority stake

Blackstone purchases a 20% stake in Versace for €210 million — the brand's first non-family ownership.

2019

Capri Holdings acquires Versace

On 2 January 2019, Capri Holdings (the former Michael Kors group) closes its acquisition of Versace for approximately US$2.1 billion.

2020

Versace Home furniture licensed to Lifestyle Design Group

Versace signs a licence with Lifestyle Design Group — the Italian home-design division of US-based Haworth Group — for the production and distribution of Versace Home furniture. The licence covers furniture only; textiles and accessories remain in-house, ceramics continue under Rosenthal, and wallpaper and floor tiles stay with their respective licensees.

2023

Rosenthal × Versace turns 30

The Rosenthal × Versace partnership marks 30 years with a limited mug collection that revives a 1993 design — gold-toned Barocco motifs paired with a Medusa lid.

2024

"If These Walls Could Talk" at Palazzo Versace

Salone del Mobile installation at the brand's original Milan atelier on Via Gesù 12 debuts the Medusa '95 Conversation Sofa, La Greca Bed, Lady Desk, and Moon Island sofa and armchair.

2025

Prada Group acquires Versace

Announced 10 April 2025 and closed 2 December 2025: Prada Group acquires Versace from Capri Holdings for €1.25 billion (~US$1.375 billion). The same year Donatella Versace steps down as Chief Creative Officer (effective 12 March) and becomes Chief Brand Ambassador (1 April); Dario Vitale is appointed Chief Creative Officer.

Inside

Construction

Aluminium frame — Sunset Gold or Satin Grey

The brand's framing: "An elegant accent with a contemporary design, the Narcissus mirror presents a ton sur ton Versace logo, with tridimensional effect. The aluminium frame with polished Sunset Gold or Satin Grey finishing houses a mirror in extra-clear glass." Two finish options — Sunset Gold (warm) or Satin Grey (cool architectural). Aluminium parts assembled and finished to spec.

Ton sur ton 3D Versace logo

Defining decoration: a ton sur ton Versace logo with tridimensional effect. The logo sits in the same tone as the frame — gold logo on gold frame, grey logo on grey frame — but raised in relief so it reads through light and shadow rather than colour contrast. Different from the Greca mirror's Greek-key motif on the glass; here the decoration is on the frame itself.

Extra-clear glass with safety wrap

Mirror in extra-clear glass with safety wrap — the safety wrap is the protective backing that prevents shattering. Extra-clear (no green tint) glass register; the safety wrap supports installation safely at the larger 178 × 240 H size.

Steel mounting plate, matt black

Hanging or base-fixing system: steel plate, matt black varnished. The plate accommodates either wall hanging or base/floor fixing for the larger size. The black-varnished finish stays invisible behind the mirror — purely structural rather than decorative.

Optional LED strip with dimmer

Optional element: LED strip lighting with dimmer. Provides adjustable backlight or perimeter glow. Useful for vanity application (face-light at the user) or as ambient room light when the mirror is placed in entryway or hallway. Dimmer allows tuning the LED brightness from low ambient to full task light.

Ton sur ton 3D Versace logo on aluminium frame

Ton sur ton 3D Versace logo on aluminium frame

Detail of the family signature — the Versace logo applied as a ton sur ton tridimensional element on the aluminium frame. Reads through light/shadow at viewing distance. Different from the Narcissus lamps (id 423) which carry the 3D Metal Medusa logo on the lamp body — here the Versace wordmark logo replaces the Medusa medallion. Same Sunset Gold or Satin Grey finish family.

Square — 157 × 157 H

Square — 157 × 157 H

157 × 8 × 157 H cm

The square format. At 157 × 157 it functions as a primary wall mirror — entryway focal point, dining-area reflection element, or large vanity mirror. The square geometry reads as architectural element rather than as decoration. Ton sur ton Versace logo at this scale reads as a signature register, visible from across the room.

Tall — 178 × 240 H

Tall — 178 × 240 H

178 × 8 × 240 H cm

The vertical format. At 178 × 240 H it sits as a floor-mounted or wall-mounted full-height mirror — entryway statement piece, dressing room full-height check, or living-room verticality element. The taller proportion turns the mirror into a primary architectural element. The base-fixing option (steel plate matt black) supports the larger weight at full height.

    Versace Home Mirrors collection

The licensed manufacturer's mirrors collection includes the Narcissus mirror (this id), the Greca mirror (id 434), and the La Greca crystal mirror (id 39649). Three different decorative approaches: Narcissus uses ton sur ton 3D Versace logo on aluminium frame; Greca uses Greek-key motif glazed on glass; La Greca crystal uses crystal decoration. The Narcissus is also available in two formats (square and tall) — the broadest size range in the mirror family.

FAQ

Frequently asked

Different decoration approach. The Greca mirror uses the Greek-key motif applied as glazed decoration directly on the extra-clear glass — the pattern sits on the mirror surface. The Narcissus mirror uses a ton sur ton 3D Versace logo on the aluminium frame — the decoration sits on the frame, not on the glass. The Narcissus's logo is monochrome with the frame finish; the Greca's motif is a graphic field around the reflection. Choose Narcissus for a quieter, frame-focused decoration; choose Greca for a graphic-field-on-glass decoration.

Format and use. The 157 × 157 square works as a primary wall mirror — entryway focal point, vanity station, dining-area reflection. The 178 × 240 tall works as a floor- or wall-mounted full-height mirror — dressing-room check or vertical architectural element. The 240 cm height places it in true full-height register; pair with the steel base plate for floor mounting where wall hanging isn't practical for the size.

Match the room's hardware. Sunset Gold is the warm Versace register — pairs with gold-trimmed armchairs, gold-base lighting, gold-medallion accessories. Satin Grey is the cool architectural register — pairs with Stiletto family hardware (matt aluminium throughout) or with steel-and-marble interiors. The ton sur ton logo reads identically in both finishes; only the frame's tonal register changes.

Function-dependent. With LED specified, the mirror provides adjustable perimeter or backlight illumination — useful for vanity use (face-light at the user) or ambient lighting in entryways and dressing rooms. The dimmer allows tuning from low ambient glow to full task brightness. Without LED, the mirror is purely decorative. Plan electrical supply at the mounting point if specifying LED.

Same family name, different decoration application. The Narcissus lamps carry the 3D Metal Medusa logo on the metal stem; this Narcissus mirror carries the ton sur ton 3D Versace logo on the aluminium frame. Both use the polished Gold (or Sunset Gold here) plus Satin Grey or gun-metal grey finish family. Pair lamp + mirror in the same room for a coordinated Narcissus suite — entryway with the tall mirror plus a Narcissus floor lamp, or dressing room with Narcissus mirror plus Narcissus table lamp.
