Forty years after the debut of the Max sofa, Antonio Citterio revisits one of Flexform’s most beloved and iconic designs. Preserving its distinctive features while reinterpreting them with a contemporary touch, he has created Supermax—a model with more generous proportions and expanded versatility compared to the original 1983 version.

The strict tubular metal frame, inspired by rationalist architecture, has been lowered to encourage a more relaxed posture. The signature bean-shaped seat cushion has been re-engineered with new dimensions and filling for enhanced comfort, while the unmistakable cylindrical backrest becomes even more expressive when upholstered in contrasting two-tone fabrics.

Whereas Max was conceived primarily for waiting areas, executive offices, and lounges, Supermax with its low, deep seat takes center stage as a versatile piece, perfectly suited to both private living rooms and public spaces.
