FIRST STEPS

Christophe Pillet summed up his design philosophy in a few eloquent words: “I don’t seek exceptionality, but beauty and emotion in the everyday.” This passionate search for the essence of things is fully expressed in the First Steps chair, which in its poetic simplicity recalls the archetype of the chair itself.

Its sinuous backrest is crafted from painted metal, while the tightly woven seat and back are entirely hand-made in either paper cord or rush. The same design and materials are used for the stool version, whose refined presence allows it to blend gracefully into any setting without imposing itself.
